How the AI Scores Your Nose
The nose score rates proportional fit rather than any single "correct" nose: nose width relative to interocular distance (the classical ideal has the nostril base about as wide as the space between the eyes), nose length relative to the facial thirds, bridge straightness, tip definition, and the nasolabial angle where the nose meets the upper lip.
The scoring rubric
High scores go to noses that sit proportionally within the face — width near the interocular benchmark, length filling the middle facial third without dominating it, a relatively straight bridge line, and a nasolabial angle in the broad 90–120° range the literature associates with balance (conventions differ between male and female scoring). Deviation, humps, or width beyond the benchmarks measure further from convention, and asymmetric noses also feed the symmetry category.
Nose scoring is where lens distortion does its worst work: a front camera at 30cm can inflate apparent nose size by double-digit percentages — one of the best-documented effects in facial photography. A low nose score from a selfie is very often the lens, not the nose.
Photographing it accurately
Shoot from at least 1–1.5 metres (use the rear camera or zoom), face the camera squarely, and keep the camera at eye level — this alone corrects most selfie nose distortion.
